Overnight hike planned to The Fainters via Tawonga Huts

Time: drive up Fri afternoon/evening, hike Sat/Sun, drive home Sun afternoon

Experience required: Beginner overnight - some day hiking experience required

Destination: Falls Creek area

Details TBC depending on interest and experience of those interested, but thinking:

Drive up to Pretty Valley Hut (potentially stay there or Mountain Creek Campsite Friday night). Saturday hike to Tawonga Huts via Australian Alpine Walking Trail (5km), set up camp. Out and back to Mount Jaithmatang and Mount Fainter (15km return with light packs since tents are already set up). Sunday walk back to car and drive home.

If there's interest and enough cars available, we could alternatively do a car shuffle to make it a point-to-point hike instead of out-and-back. e.g. Start at Cope Hut - Bogong Jack Hut (21km) on Sat night - finish at Bogong Village (12km) on Sunday.

Approx cost: Fuel if car pooling ($50-100) + gear hire (max $15 if hired from club for weekend) + food (BYO)

Gear store will be open (TBD) before the trip. You must have or hire sufficient gear to be self-sufficient camping for the trip.
