Multi-day hike planned for Easter: summit Mount Bogong, Victoria's highest mountain (1986m), and hike further through the Bogong high plains around Falls Creek!
Trip Leader: Cam
Time: leaving early on Good Friday (3 April), return late on Monday or Tuesday (depending on group preferences)
Experience required: Intermediate - previous experience overnight hiking and/or in alpine terrain required. We will be hiking up steep hills carrying heavy packs.
Destination: Mount Bogong
More trip details:
Friday: drop one car at Falls Creek (4.5 hours drive from uni) and the other car at Mountain Creek Campground (1 hour drive from Falls Creek). Camp at Mountain Creek
Saturday: hike up to Mount Bogong and onwards to Cleve Cole Hut (13km / 1400m elevation)
Sunday: hike to Roper's Hut (10km / 700m elevation)
Monday: hike to Falls Creek (11km / 200m elevation), collect the other car, drive home
If we don't have enough drivers to do a car shuffle, this hike can also be done as a loop (would require an extra day or a very long final day)
Approx cost: fuel (approx $50, depending on number of people per car) + gear hire (max $15 if hired from club for weekend) + BYO food
