This trip is to start training people who are interested in learning to go on touring kayaking trips (ie longer trips along rivers, or in large lakes) or do sea kayaing trips (eg In Port Philip or Westernport). If you want to take part in this trip then you need to have previously competed an Intro to Kayaking session, or have shown equivalent skills.
It is your responsibility to ensure you have the right gear. Trip leaders can answer questions you might have. If you dont have the right gear you may get left at uni and leaders might be unwilling to take you in the future.
